NCAA Sports Blog

The America East Conference is a college athletic conference whose members are located mainly in the northeastern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA’s Division I. It was known as the ECAC North from 1979 to 1988 and the North Atlantic Conference from the fall semester of 1988 to the end of the spring 1996 semester.

There are nine schools with full membership:

    * Siena College (1984-1989, left to join Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference)

    * Central Connecticut State University (1986-1990, left in merger with Seaboard Conference)

    * Colgate University (1979-1990, left to join Patriot League)

    * University of Delaware (1991-2001, left to join Colonial Athletic Association)

    * Drexel University (1991-2001, left to join Colonial Athletic Association)

    * Hofstra University (1994-2001, left to join Colonial Athletic Association)

    * Towson University (1995-2001, left to join Colonial Athletic Association)
